Get ready, Gold Coast! Our favourite spectacle- SWELL Sculpture Festival- is back, bigger and brighter than ever!
Kicking off on Friday 12th and wrapping up on Sunday 21st September, the festival showcases the amazing artistic talents of local, national and international artists. Celebrating its 23rd anniversary, there are plenty of exciting events including a beachside SWELL Fringe Festival, pop up indoor SWELL Smalls Gallery, and the much-loved SWELL Kids area. Plus, there are pop-up exhibitions across the city, including at Oasis Shopping Centre and Pacific Fair.
The vast majority of the SWELL action is free (yeeha), with a scattering of paid entry/ticketed events, and there is literally something here for everyone!
Aside from viewing the amazing sculptures that are on display this year, here’s our pick of the litter, highlighting 10 additional activations you just can’t miss.

There is a whole program of wellness allowing you to move, skate and smile around the sculptures. From sunrise pilates or SUP’ing to retro dance classes to a silent disco under the stars there is something for everyone. Free or low cost events. Click here for more info.
