6 strikingly good local bowling alleys

Roll-y good times guaranteed!

Strike Bowling Bar (image supplied)
Strike Bowling Bar (image supplied)

Is it just us, or is bowling the gift that keeps on giving? We loved it as kids and still get the feels when we don those clown-like shoes and annihilate those pins! Well actually, sometimes we don’t hit all of them…or any of them…but we digress. Our kids also love a good bowling sesh which is awesome for two reasons. Firstly, it’s something to add to our school holiday entertainment list. And secondly, we get to have a crack too!

Here are six Gold Coast bowling alleys to hit up from north to south.

The Park Coomera
Whether you’re three years old or a great grandparent you’ll fall for The Park (literally if you step over the line, coz those lanes are proper slippery). Styled to emulate the local park (cute), they do a wicked kids Sundae Sesh with loads of entertainment like magic and face painting, plus kids eat free with one paid parent meal every Sunday 5pm until Fri 5pm.
Where: Shop MM7 Westfield Coomera, Level 2/103 Foxwell Road, Coomera

Go Bowling Ashmore
Ahhh the original old-skool alley with nostalgia and charm for days! With discounted rates most school holidays and $9 kids’ happy hours from 9am-10am and 3pm-4pm, there will be more left in the kitty for the kids to blow on the arcade-style games! Plus, you can even pick your own tunes by downloading an app and who doesn’t want to be a bowling DJ!
Where: 137 Currumburra Road, Ashmore

Strike Bowling
Not your typical bowling alley, Strike has ten bowling lanes, a 15-person karaoke room, two escape rooms and don’t forget Holey Moley is located there too! Bring the whole fam in before 4pm and get a game of bowling for a family of four for $40! Bargain! Mum and dad, there’s a killer cocktail bar too (the kids will just think you’re drinking fancy juice…) and delicious food offerings from Rando Sandos.
Where: Circle on Cavill, Surfers Paradise Boulevard, Surfers Paradise

Zone Bowling Robina (image supplied)
Zone Bowling Robina (image supplied)

Zone Bowling
With more than just bowling on the menu, your kids can go nuts with laser tag, a Timezone arcade and bumper cars! With special school holiday passes offering combinations of these activities starting from just $25.90 per person, you’ll get bang for your buck, plus you have an excuse to hit the shops while you’re there (like you needed one).
Where: Paradise Centre, Level 1, 8-10 Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise & Robina Town Centre, 1 Robina Town Centre Drive, Robina

Timezone Coolangatta
Need a break from the scorching heat? Kids whining that they’re bored? Or maybe an unexpected downpour has ruined your beach plans? Swing into the state-of-the-art Timezone for some bowling, games, laser and dodgem cars. Download the new Timezone fun app and score a $5 game credit!

Coolangatta Tweed Tenpin
Opening its lanes in 1974, this long-time born and bred Gold Coaster is still managed by the same family – and who doesn’t love to #supportlocal! A southern GC icon, mums and dads have been taking their youngens here for, well, you do the math! If you can get the kids up at a respectable hour, whip down for an $8.50 early-bird game.
