If a Tuscan vineyard homestay sounds sweet, like grapes from a vine, then Hillside Carool is for you. What once was a winery has since been refurbished, where beautiful rows of grape vines remain. It’s as though this homestead was curated to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. The property, set upon rolling green hills, boasts a palm tree-lined lap pool, two outdoor fireplaces, and an old cellar door, making this a perfect cosy winter or stunning summer escape. Hire long tables for a picturesque lunch on the 30 m lawn, or pour a glass of wine to enjoy on the fairy-light-lit patio.

Let’s be real – who doesn’t go weak at the knees for a space that combines a French patisserie and a beautiful homewares store? And, the ham on the croissant is that it’s right by the beach. And it’s family-owned. And….look we could go on and on, because we can’t get enough of Kirra’s newly expanded Cotton Living. Jadore!
With a vision to bring unique and luxurious products to you and your home, and treat you to mouth-watering pastries and quintessentially French treats at the same time, this place is the obvious choice for your next coffee date or lunch with the girls.
From the sandy-hued, washed wooden tabletops and extra-spesh white and gold serve ware, to the curved edges and (on-fleek) vertically stacked white tiles adorning the expansive counter, every inch of Cotton Living is true to theme….and beautifully executed. The divine rattan pendants need to be in our kitchens stat…if only we could buy something just like them and wait, that’s right – we totally CAN!
Exploring the unique and luxurious homewares is equally as blissful as indulging in their myriad of French treats which BTW, is it even possible to eat only one chocolate eclair? We think not.
A trip to Cotton Living just wouldn’t be complete without picking up one of their ah-mazing croissants, courtesy of esteemed pastry chef Loic Trouiller. You might think you’ve had a good one before but trust us, you haven’t lived until you’ve devoured one of their signature parcels of buttery, flaky crescent-shaped goodness. Taking full advantage of the stunning beachside location, you have the option of sipping and eating outside with the ocean breeze or keeping your makeup intact with the aircon inside.
Anywho’s, back to the homewares (because, well, homewares!) owners Ben Rae and Jae Saunders work closely with artisans around the globe, and personally source, manufacture and hand-select the majority of their range. This is a huge point of differentiation as you can be rest assured that when you pick yourself up a little somethin-somethin, you’re not going to see it in every Tom, Dick and Harry’s abode.
These guys are serious about providing quality furniture and homely treasures, and their commitment to the cause is clear as soon as you step inside. Their original, much smaller store (sans patisserie) was undeniably gorgeous and a local fave, but this expansion takes things to a whole new, must-see level.
So when you can’t decide whether you want to indulge in some decadent French eats, or go hunting for high-end luxury one-off pieces to add some finesse to your home, crisis averted – do both!
