What do you get when you mix 30 years of seafaring swagger, a boatload of awards, and a serious love for the Gold Coast? You get Spirit of Gold Coast, the OG of ocean adventures. While they’ve made a name spotting whales, this summer they’re flipping the script with a splashy lineup of cruises that’ll have you sea-duced by the Gold Coast all over again.

So, what’s on deck this sunny season? Think sunset vibes, island adventures, gourmet bites, wildlife spotting, and private charters that’ll make you feel like the captain of cool. Whether you’re a local looking to spice up your weekend or a visitor chasing that salty sea breeze, Spirit’s got a cruise for every mood.

First up, let’s unpack the Broadwater Sunset Cruise. This two-hour twilight treat is sunset-soaked, skyline-studded, and straight-up swoon-worthy. As the sun dips below the horizon, you’ll glide past the GC skyline and Sovereign Island’s mega-mansions like you’re auditioning for a Bravo reality show.

On board, there’s complimentary fresh food with an assortment of fresh seasonal gourmet wraps or if you prefer to BYO eats, that’s totally ship-shape too. You’ll be serenaded by smooth tunes providing the perfect backdrop for the evening and tempted by a fully licensed bar that’s ready to pour your perfect sundowner – because nothing says ‘Gold Coast’ like sipping a cold one on a yacht while the sky turns fifty shades of flamingo.

If you’re more of a morning mermaid, the Spirit Junior Island Cruise is your golden ticket to four hours of pure aquatic bliss. This small-group adventure kicks off with a scenic sail past the GC skyline before dropping anchor at our beloved Wave Break Island. Here, you can swim, sunbathe, and bask in the glow of the Gold Coast like a sun-kissed sea-lebrity.

Then it’s off to Tipplers Bar & Café via the luxe waterways of fancy-pants Sovereign Island, where you’ll bushwalk through coastal forest, mingle with wildlife, and feast on a classic Aussie lunch at Tipplers Café. We’re talking fish and chips, calamari and BLTC (with vegetarian options available) or if you’re feeling decadent, why not go all out and upgrade to nachos, herb-crusted hoki, or a tropical chicken burger?

Next up, if you’re the kind of person who thinks “private charter” sounds like something reserved for billionaires and Bond villains, think again. Spirit Junior’s Private Charter Cruises are the ultimate way to celebrate anything from birthdays and engagement parties, to buck’s parties and corporate shindigs that’ll impress the pants off your clients (hopefully not literally). With space for up to 50 guests, this floating fiesta can be customised to your heart’s content. Think swimming at Wave Break Island, sunset cruising past Sovereign’s swanky homes, wildlife spotting, beach BBQs, fishing, and more. Their Event Manager will even help plan your day in four easy steps and be on board to make sure everything goes swimmingly. It’s basically your Pinterest party board come to life and you won’t even need a yacht-sized budget to make it happen.

Finally, let’s not forget the creds. Spirit of Gold Coast isn’t just a pretty face with a boat license. They’ve racked up more awards than Meryl Streep, including a boatload of Trip Advisor accolades, Destination Gold Coast wins, and the coveted “Best of Queensland Experience” badge since 2022. Translation: they know their stuff, and they do it with style.

So whether you’re chasing sunsets, craving a splash, or planning the party of the year, Spirit of Gold Coast is your go-to for summer cruising that’s equal parts chill and thrill. Book your tickets, pack your sunnies, and prepare to sea-ze the day.

Get ready to rock

The world’s first cliff park opens at Binna Burra this summer.

Happitat, Binna Burra (image supplied)

Hanging out for some adventure? Here’s your moment to rise to the occasion.

Launching January 10, 2026, Happitat is the world’s first cliff park, set to open at Binna Burra in Queensland’s lush Gold Coast Hinterland. Think of it as nature’s ultimate playground, where the views are worth every wobble of your knees.

Surrounded by the World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park, Happitat is just 1.5 hours from Brisbane and an hour from Surfers Paradise, close enough for a day trip, but far enough to make you feel like you’ve dropped off the edge of the everyday. The park blends zip lines, suspension bridges, via ferrata climbs, rainforest walks and swimming holes into one seamless, breathtaking, nerve-tingling adventure.

Happitat, Binna Burra (image supplied)
Happitat, Binna Burra (image supplied)

Just writing this is giving us an adrenaline rush.

Founded by conservationist, alpine adventurer and former professional snowboarder Michael Neururer, Happitat is designed to help visitors connect with nature, push through fear, and find their inner calm (while dangling 200 metres above the valley floor).

“Nature and adventure changed my life,” said Michael. “We created the Happitat experience deep in nature because we know happiness starts with finding space to stop, simplify and appreciate our environment.”

Happitat, Binna Burra (image supplied)

If that sounds a little lofty, wait until you hear what’s literally on offer.

The full-day adventure kicks off with The Arête Via Ferrata Climb, where you step over the edge for a breathtaking ascent across an 80-metre bridge complete with tightropes and timber crossings suspended high above the valley. From there, thrill-seekers launch into Total Exposure, the park’s longest and highest zipline, soaring a heart-thumping 200 metres above Lamington National Park.

Still feeling brave? You’ll then tackle The Overhang Zipline Course, a jaw-dropping ride past waterfalls and rugged cliff faces. Finally, it’s time to come back down to earth with The Edge Park Explorer, a gentler wander through shaded rainforest trails, crystal-clear rock pools and lookout platforms that make you feel on top of the world (literally – the cantilevered deck hangs 400 metres above the valley floor).

Happitat, Binna Burra (image supplied)

Each experience is designed to take you from panic to peace, helping you rediscover not just your sense of adventure, but your sense of connection.

“When people feel connected to nature,” said Michael, “they’re more compelled to protect it, and that’s a big part of what we’re all about.”

True to that mission, Happitat is walking the talk, investing more than $1 million in environmental restoration, stabilising bushfire-affected cliffs, planting native species and operating under a zero-waste system. Everything, right down to the carabiners, has been engineered to ensure the park gives more back to the environment than it takes.

Tickets for Happitat go on sale November 12, starting at $497 for a full-day adventure with expert guides and world-class safety systems.

So, whether you’re a weekend warrior or just looking to take the plunge into something new, Happitat promises to lift your spirits and your heart rate.
