Warning: things are heating up and we’re not just talking about the weather. Northern GC’s dining scene just cranked up the spice dial.

AKA Asiatique Dining & Bar, also known as Paradise Point’s hottest new eatery, is already making waves with its mouth-watering menu and cocktails that are seriously next level.

Behind the venture is Akaradon Boonyarit, a Thai-born chef who’s spent almost two decades stirring, sizzling and saucing his way through kitchens across Australia. After nearly 20 years of working in hotels and international restaurants, the youngest sibling in his family decided it was time to plate up a dream of his own. And so, AKA was born, literally named after the first letters of his given name. But Akaradon’s love for his family is at the heart of why he opened it.

“I wouldn’t have this opportunity without my brother,” Akaradon said. “He has always supported me. Even though we don’t get to be together often, it’s always better to have a brother than to be alone.”

The restaurant’s build was led with care thanks to Chanvit Kasiolan, who helped bring the chef’s vision of a stylish, plant-filled, modern space to life. Think clean lines, lush greenery, warm tones and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger long after dessert. With seating for 50 inside and 20 more alfresco, it’s intimate yet buzzing, perfect for both date nights and family banquets.

But let’s be honest, when it comes to AKA, it’s all about what’s on the plate that’s really stealing the show. This isn’t your average Asian fusion. Akaradon and his team are bringing bold, inventive dishes to Paradise Point, the kind you usually have to travel (or scroll Instagram endlessly) to find.

Start with the Watermelon Sashimi served with sesame yuzu soy, nori crunch and sorrel. Fresh, vibrant and totally unexpected, one bite and you’ll see why it’s quickly becoming their signature.

The Miso Glazed Eggplant is a melt-in-your-mouth crowd pleaser, smothered in caramelised miso, whipped tofu and nori crunch.

For something heartier, the Massaman Lamb featuring lamb rump, roasted coconut, cumin, cinnamon and potato is a hug on a plate, slow-cooked to perfection with that unmistakable Thai balance of spice, sweetness and comfort.

And the cocktails? They deserve a standing ovation. Playful names like Be Your Man(go) hint at the fun to come, while the flavours of Chilli Mango Gin, Tropical Syrup and Dried Mango are just as punchy as the food. Pair one with your sashimi or curry, and suddenly your quiet dinner turns into a full-blown celebration.

Paradise Point isn’t exactly short on eateries, but AKA fills a niche that’s been missing, a truly contemporary Asian dining experience that fuses tradition with innovation. It’s a little slice of Bangkok-meets-Bali-meets-Byron, right here on the Gold Coast.

Taco ‘bout a fiesta

Street Taco Bar & Taqueria brings bold Mexican bites to Paradise Point.

Street Taco Bar & Taqueria is here to shake things up in Paradise Point! With a pinch of authentic Mexican flavour and a dash of Aussie charm, it’s like a perfectly mixed margarita.

With more than a decade of experience sizzling away in some of the GC’s busiest kitchens like The Collective in Palm Beach and the iconic Bam Bam Bakehouse, Jorge Camargo Erazo knows how to turn up the heat.

But this time, he’s cooking up his own dream. Street Taco Bar & Taqueria was born from Jorge’s love of his South American roots and a trip to California where he tasted the best Mexican food of his life. That trip sparked the idea to bring those bold flavours he loves to our sunny shores.

And where better than Paradise Point? Jorge and his family fell head over heels for the suburb’s beachside vibes, restaurant scene and famously friendly community.

Now, he’s serving up tacos with a side of sunshine, creating a space that feels equal parts fiesta and familia. Step inside and you’ll be greeted by striking cactus displays and colourful Catrinas dancing across the walls. It’s warm, it’s welcoming and it’s got just the right amount of Aussie surf-town soul blended into its Mexican corazón.

At the moment, most of the action happens indoors, but the team has big plans. As the weather warms, the outdoor area will open up with plenty of tables to soak up those golden GC afternoons.

Of course, the real star is the food. Jorge and his crew pride themselves on keeping it fresh and gluten-free without sacrificing one ounce of authenticity.

On the menu, you’ll find a feast of Mexican greatest hits.

To kick it off are the deep-fried Jalapeno Poppers that will melt in your mouth on first bite.

Tuck into top-notch tacos like the Aztec Fire Chicken Taco, featuring marinated grilled orange chicken and topped with diced onion, coriander, lime, and drizzled with a tangy chipotle salsa.

Slow-cooked Beef Quesadillas are sure to hit the spot, with beef marinated in a savoury blend of spices served with onions, fresh coriander and a side of consomme for dipping (and sipping, it’s that delicious).

Nachos will please the whole familia with melted mozzarella, chipotle mayo sauce, fresh guac, bandera salsa, beans, fresh coriander and your choice of protein.

You know you can’t go home without devouring hot churros rolled in cinnamon served with dulce de leche dipping sauce.

To wash it down, there’s all the marg flavours we love, but our choice to truly embrace Paradise Point is the Tropical Fiesta Margarita, a mix of tequila, triple sec, agave, fresh lime juice and fresh mango with a tajin rim.

Fresh food and good vibes Street Taco Bar & Taqueria will have you salsa dancing your way back again and again.
