12 of the Gold Coast’s cold foam hot spots

Gettin' frothy wit it!

It’s the drink on everyone’s lips and it’s all over our social feeds. Yep, cold foam is having a moment, and we are so here for it.

It all started down south (Melbourne, of course) when a little cafe on Lygon Street called Good Measure brewed up liquid gold in the form of a Mont Blanc.

Good Measure’s magical concoction of Code Black batch brew crowned with aerated sweet cream adorned with orange zest and grated nutmeg had foodies frothing over it, literally. It’s served both hot and cold at GM, and once word got around, there was a line down Lygon with everyone wanting a sip.

As its popularity grew, cafes near and far created their own Mont Blancs, and now, the foam trend has become an artform, especially on the GC. It’s not just Mont Blancs anymore, baristas have whipped up their own creations inspired by the signature drink, and some might just rival the OG.

Let’s get our froth on for these foamy faves.

‘94

Palm Beach’s newest obsession, ’94, is giving cold foam royalty with its dreamy lineup of silky-topped sips. Matcha meets creamy cloud heaven with the cult-fave Salted Caramel Matcha, while the zesty Dark Blanc with velvety foam is so smooth it deserves its own fan club (or should we say foam club?). Each drink is handcrafted, house-syruped and totally preservative-free.

Chirn Park’s Daark Espresso is keeping things seriously cool with its trio of cold foam showstoppers: Iced Biscoff Latte, Pistachio Matcha and Tiramisu Cold Brew. Each sip is creamy-meets-dreamy, where bold espresso or velvety matcha gets crowned with a silky foam cloud that melts in your mouth.

But be warned, those cinny scrolls are as popular as their cold foam counterparts and sell out fast.

Mudgeeraba’s cafe darling, Mudjira Village Eatery, is celebrating ten years of good vibes and great coffee with a serious glow-up and a new cold foam crush. Their Mont Blanc with orange-vanilla foam, fresh orange zest and a sprinkle of nutmeg is a summer lovin’ sip.

Scroll goals

Sticky scrolls, creamy coffees, crunchy cereal, it’s all happening at Public Supply.

Picture this: it’s a crisp Tweed morning, the surf’s rolling in at Snapper, and the scent of fresh cinnamon is wafting down a hidden laneway. No, you haven’t stumbled into a Parisian back alley or a Bondi TikTok, this is Public Supply, Tweed Heads’ brand-new hole-in-the-wall coffee spot that’s about to ruin all other cinnamon scrolls for you.

Public Supply (Image: © 2025 Inside Gold Coast)

Bondi might have its viral Sundays Bondi scrolls that people queue hours for, but guess what? The Tweed has officially entered the chat. Public Supply has come out swinging with scrolls so good they deserve their own fan club. We’re talking The OG Original Glaze (a sticky, shiny, buttery dream), Pistachio (fancy but make it gooey), Choccy Bueno (like the choc bar, but better), and the Biscoff Crumble (yes, the one you’ll be thinking about at 2am). There’s even a Naked Scroll you can pair with dipping sauces for a little DIY action.

Basically, Tweed just got its own scroll supremacy, and if you’re not here lining up, are you even living?

But Public Supply isn’t just about scroll worship. These legends have added a cheeky twist to your caffeine fix with Cereal Coffees, yes, you read that right. Imagine a silky latte crowned with a crunchy pile of Coco Pops or Cornflakes. It’s nostalgic, it’s fun, and it’s basically breakfast in a cup. Coffee in one hand, scroll in the other, and a spoonful of cereal to seal the deal.

Your inner kid is squealing, and your adult self is wide awake. Win-win.

Behind the scenes are four locals with some serious street cred. Ross Whitlock (a coffee gun with over a decade’s hospo experience across NZ and Aus) and his partner Alysha Buckingham (café all-rounder turned digital whiz with her own consultancy, Call Her Jean), joined forces with Tweed-born duo Kallie Hunter and Kurt Foggo (the brains behind NBHD studios and the high-electrolyte drink sur).

Together, they’ve brewed up something seriously special: a café that merges good coffee, killer food, and design-led vibes, all tucked into a laneway.

The space itself? Minimalist, modern, and cooler than your mate’s curated Pinterest board. Think deep red tiles, stainless steel touches, an open-air laneway feel, and a shiny La Marzocco machine gleaming like a piece of art. It’s urban but coastal, polished but relaxed, the perfect backdrop for coffee, conversation, and a scroll (or three).

And while the scrolls might be the star, the coffee deserves its own standing ovation. Ross has been low-key perfecting his craft at home for years, testing signature drinks like the Mont Blanc and Matcha Clouds, espresso or matcha topped with dreamy cream cold foam that makes your morning feel like a treat-yourself moment.

Their beans, roasted in collaboration with local suppliers, strike the ultimate balance: full-bodied flavour with a smooth finish that keeps you coming back for more.

Public Supply officially opened at the end of August and Tweed locals have wasted no time finding their new obsession. Whether you’re grabbing a takeaway for your whale-watching stroll, parking yourself in the alleyway for a chat in the sun, or just here for the scroll crumbs on your shirt, this place has ritual written all over it.

Public Supply isn’t just serving coffee and scrolls. It’s serving a whole new daily vibe, sticky, crunchy, creamy, and completely unmissable.

For richer, for pourer

Coffee culture meets country life at Burringbar’s Pour Good.

Can you hear the buzz across the border? Pour Good, Burringbar’s newest sip spot, has locals and cyclists cruising the Northern Rivers Rail Trail stopping in their tracks.

At the heart of this venture are Jack and Sophia Deacon, a husband-and-wife dream team with hospitality running through their veins. Jack’s been steeped in the coffee industry for 15 years, working as a barista, roaster, and trainer for some of Australia’s most respected roasters. Sophia honed her craft in Melbourne and the Byron Shire, from Mullumbimby’s favourite Punch and Daisy as well as Byron’s St Elmo.

The pair first met in Bangalow a decade ago and discovered a shared love for coffee and community. In 2019, they took the plunge and opened Elwood Cafe in what was then the sleepy town of Burringbar. The cafe quickly became the town’s beating heart, a place where neighbours swapped stories over big breakfasts and diverse coffee pours.

But life, much like coffee, can sometimes be bittersweet. June 2022, on the very night Sophia went into labour with their first child, Elwood Cafe went up in flames.

“Our lives turned upside down,” Jack recalls. “We all lost a very special place that meant so much to so many.”

Yet, they’ve risen from the ashes. Jack continued to work with Old Quarter Coffee Merchants, becoming a proud ambassador for their ethical coffee program, while Sophia adjusted to life as a new mum. And slowly, the idea for Pour Good began to percolate, honouring the whole coffee journey from farm to palm.

This time, the dream had a twist. Thanks to the wonderful Bron Harrison of The Natural Wine Bar and Shop, Jack and Sophia were offered the chance to share a space: coffee bar by day, wine bar by night.

You’ll smell the freshly brewed coffee in the air before you enter through the red velvet curtains. Like a secret bar in Melbourne or New York, you’ll be greeted with softly lit space lined with wine bottles and vintage knick knacks while the San Remo coffee machine hums in the background.

Settle into the moody vibes inside or perch yourself out front at the roadside espresso bar, facing the lush village green where the Northern Rivers Rail Trail begins its winding path.

But first, coffee. The menu is a rotating line-up of specialty coffee and Pour Good’s signature Cold Pours. Our first pick is Elwood’s Mont Blanc – a house cold brew topped with Valencia orange cream, served over ice with grated orange choc. It’s as refreshing as it is nostalgic, a nod to their first cafe and the community that carried them through the tough times.

For something even more decadent, try the The Gopita Garni featuring fig jam, vanilla coconut cream, double espresso shaken on ice topped with grated organic chocolate.

To soak it all up, you’ll find fresh croissants and cookies from favourite local bakehouses, including Ballina’s Lehem BreadHouse. For the coffee fiends, beans are also available to take home, perfect for levelling up your brew between visits.

Americana in a cup with a side of vintage goodness

Sun Devil Drinks Company opens in Strange Days Store’s new digs!

If your caffeine fix needs a little more wild west and a little less flat white, then saddle up, partner – Sun Devil Drinks Company has arrived. Born in the buzzing Gold Coast market scene, this American-style coffee bar has found itself a permanent home inside vintage juggernaut Strange Days in Tweed Heads. Think saloon-style charm meets New York espresso bar, all wrapped up in a vintage wonderland that makes grabbing your morning brew feel like stepping into a Quentin Tarantino film.

Sun Devil’s story is as rich as its coffee. It started as a humble drinks stall in the Currumbin markets, where founders Alex Boyce and Freya Lynch introduced Aussies to the holy grail of American refreshments and cold brews (more on those below). With the sun beating down and locals looking for a thirst-quencher with a side of character, the stall quickly gained a cult following.

But it wasn’t until a fateful trip back to the States that inspiration struck. After tasting their way through some of America’s best bars and restaurants, they dreamed up the now-legendary Sun Devil Special. One call to their mate Marshall (kitchen wizard extraordinaire) and the recipe was perfected, sealing their reputation as the Gold Coast’s go-to for American-style caffeine hits.

Enter Sylvie Cornu, the brains behind Strange Days Store. A vintage maven with over 20 years in the fashion industry, Sylvie was expanding her Palm Beach-born store into a more polished version in Tweed Heads when she met Alex and Freya. If you haven’t frequented Strange Days before, think carefully curated vintage threads and goods imported from America and Europe.

Like peanut butter and jelly, cowboy boots and denim, or Bowie and Ziggy, the collaboration just made sense. Sun Devil took up residence at the front of Strange Days, giving shoppers the ultimate combo – vintage treasure hunting and a damn good cup of coffee.

The space itself is dripping in Western Americana charm, with raw exposed brick, vintage wood, and metal accents making it feel like a frontier-town espresso bar. And while takeaway is an option, Sun Devil is all about slowing down. Pull up a seat at the bar, swap stories with the baristas, and let the caffeine-fuelled conversations flow. Bay Street, after all, is one of the last bastions of Gold Coast authenticity – a tight-knit community of small businesses that look out for each other, and now, a little slice of Americana to keep things interesting.

If you’re new to Sun Devil, the Sun Devil Special is your initiation. It’s the drink that put them on the map and kept marketgoers coming back week after week. And if you’re feeling nostalgic for a classic American summer, the Arnold Palmer (half iced tea, half lemonade), or Southern Sweet Tea will transport you straight to a rocking chair on a Southern porch. Whatever you choose, you’re in for something different – Sun Devil isn’t just another coffee shop; it’s an experience.

With Sun Devil pouring the coffee and Strange Days Store bringing the vintage vibes, Bay Street just got a whole lot cooler. Whether you’re after a killer caffeine fix or a wardrobe straight out of a Nashville dive bar, this is your one-stop shop for both.
