From pizza nights to brekkie bites, Freghete’s got it all.
From pizza nights to brekkie bites, Freghete’s got it all.

Tucked away in the quiet backstreets Broadbeach Waters is a little slice of Italy so good, it should come with a warning label. Freghete Authentic Pizza and Café is dishing out woodfired pizzas so authentic, you’ll swear you just heard someone yell “mamma mia!” after your first bite. It’s the kind of place where one slice turns into three before you even notice. Delizioso, indeed.
If there’s pizza involved, you don’t have to ask us twice. Add fluffy focaccia, a dash of Italian charm, and the name Freghete, and we’re already halfway there. These legends have only been around a few years, but they’ve racked up a cool 4.9 stars and nearly 400 glowing reviews, and that’s before you add our stamp of approval (which, let’s be honest, should count as at least half a star on its own).

Follow your nose through Florida Gardens and that irresistible waft of freshly baked dough? That’s Freghete calling your name. The dream team behind it all – Giammichele and Petra – have turned their passion into pure gold. He’s Italian-born and obsessed with perfecting the classics; she’s Slovak-born, full of warmth, and makes a honey cake so good it could start a religion. Together, they’re unstoppable.
What started as a humble market stall slinging focaccia, honey cake, and Italian favourites has become a full-blown community obsession. From farmers markets to their own bricks-and-mortar space, Freghete Authentic Pizza & Café has stayed true to its heart – making people feel good, one slice, one smile, and one hug at a time.

The pizzas? Unreal. Each one is handmade and cooked till golden and bubbling. Italian perfection, no passport required. Margherita, Prosciutto e Bufala, 4 Formaggi, Patate… we dare you to pick just one (spoiler: you can’t).
And then there’s Petra’s honey cake. A sweet, layered masterpiece that locals describe as “dangerously addictive.” We’ll back that. One bite and you’ll understand why people plan their week around it.

Just when we thought Freghete couldn’t possibly get better, they went and added breakfast and lunch to the mix. Now they’re serving up mornings worth getting out of bed for, think eggs benny on crisp focaccia, frittatas, Italian-style brekkies, and of course, Petra’s honey cake for those who believe dessert is a 24-hour thing. Add a creamy espresso to the mix and you’re basically on holiday.
The space feels like a suburban trattoria – cosy, buzzing, and utterly welcoming. Inside and out, every seat comes with a side of good vibes. It’s the kind of spot where time slows down, conversation flows, and you leave feeling a little bit fuller (and a lot happier).

Whether you’re craving pizza that transports you straight to Naples, a slab of honey cake that dreams are made of, or a slow coffee in good company, Freghete is your spot.
