Soak up the sunshine at Burleigh’s Seadog in the Park

No doubt you’ll remember that time local lad Brodie Green opened a thriving coffee shop inside a former ATM space on James Street in Burleigh.

Well the innovative Gold Coaster is at it again, this time working his magic at the beloved Burleigh Bowls Club to create a little outdoor coffee shop overlooking the greens and perfect if you’re strolling through beautiful Burleigh and feel like soaking up some of that sporadic sunshine.

Brodie decided to open the newbie because there isn’t really anywhere in the area where you can sit outside while enjoying a cuppa and although the weather hasn’t been playing nice of late, we absolutely love it.

The space is literally a little coffee hut and said outside sitting space is shaded by big ol’ blue and white umbrellas so you don’t roast and of course, you can take away should you wish to stroll some more.

Seadog in the Park is brewing their very own blend, called No Bad Days in true Burleigh style and it’s made with beans from three different areas of Columbia to create something quite special. As you’d expect, the coffee is just as exceptional as the cuppa you know and love from Seadog in James Street.

Of course there’s also a single origin blend – by Marvell Street – and all the sip-in beverages are served in sweet handmade mugs (an iced latte will earn you a fruity little umbrella too).

There’s also fresh juices and smoothies should you need something fresh to go with your coffee – because obviously we always need coffee first.

Stay tuned for a light food menu in the future and there might even be some exciting community-style events coming our way too.

Seadog in the Park is the perfect little venture to join our beloved Burleigh and we can’t wait to see how it expands in the next little while.

Head down to show your support and grab one of the tastiest brews there is.

Seadog Burleigh

A compact new coffee joint for Burleigh Heads.

Well Gold Coasters, we have officially seen everything. Just a few days ago Burleigh Heads became home to a new coffee joint but it is not your average caffeine slinging space, no sir.

It is in fact a literal hole in the wall where an ATM once doled out your daily cash needs, a barista will now dole out your daily caffeine needs. How fun.

That barista is Brodie Green, also the owner of Seadog Burleigh, and the mastermind behind the idea to turn a recently removed ATM into a takeaway coffee shop.

Found next door to J St Barbers, Seadog rolled up their doors just last week and have already cemented themselves as firm favourites in the Burleigh coffee scene.

The reason for such immediate popularity is three-fold. First, Seadog uses organic coffee from Peru (Org) and it is quite the smooth, mellow drop, we dig it (and Seadog is the only spot on the Coast serving it).

Second, Brodie’s smiling face greeting folks from the inside compact space, all stoked and passionate about serving epic brews and third, said compact space bringing a little bit of fun back to our fave little beachside suburb.

What a treat.

Not only exceptional coffee though, you may also sample housemade Jun, a fermented beverage similar to kombucha but made with white tea instead of black, housemade ginger beer and cold-pressed juice from Brisbane legends, Harvest.

There are raw treats to nibble on and plenty of good vibes to soak up too.

Brodie, a third generation Gold Coaster, is also keen to help other young locals open businesses by doing something completely unique but also completely within his financial means and that friends, is something we can get behind. Stay tuned for more on that later.

Oh and here’s a sweet tale; the name Seadog came about when Brodie and his sis took a trip to Brunswick Heads and he asked her what he should name his new venture. She pointed to a building with a lifesaver that said Seadog, they laughed about how he would never call it such a thing and then he did, just to remember that moment.

That’s pretty much the epitome of a business built with a whole lot of heart if you ask us. Which you didn’t, but here we all are.

Get down there and give Seadog some love.

Free coffee all weekend at Seadog Espresso

In support of indigenous communities.

Over the last week the world has risen up in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. No doubt you’ve seen the news, joined in the conversation and done your bit to listen and learn about what needs to be done going forward.

While the global uprising began in the US, racial injustice is a worldwide issue and one that needs to be (and is being) addressed in Australia too. We’ve seen so many people and businesses, pledge their support of our indigenous people, so today we’re here to discuss how.

One Gold Coast business who has made a public declaration of support for indigenous charities is Seadog Espresso, found on James Street in Bureigh Heads.

Owner Brodie Green is passionate about creating positive change and societal progression and it’s not the first time he has taken a stand for something he believes in, having previously donated money to womens’ charity Save the Girls.

This weekend, June 13th and 14th, Brodie and Seadog Espresso will again donate, this time to Gold Coast welfare corporation Krurungal, a charity helping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with welfare, housing, school support services and much more.

Three local businesses have generously supplied prizes and although coffee is free, people will be strongly encouraged to buy tickets to enter the raffle with all proceeds going to Krurungal.

The donating businesses include Cedar & Stone – (generously with $1000 worth of prizes), Lahana Swimwear, Blackbird Byron Bay, Burleigh Bowls Club and The Collective Palm Beach, so that’s amazing.

And since the coffee is free, you’ll have all the spare dollars to spend on raffle tickets.

Get down to Seadog Espresso this weekend to support Indigenous charities and get involved in some good old-fashioned community spirit.

See you there.
