Surf, sound and salty culture collide this May as the Sessions Surf Festival rolls into the Gold Coast for a week-long celebration of everything we love about life by the ocean. Think: epic surf, live music, film drops and creative energy, all wrapped into one seriously stacked lineup spanning Miami, Burleigh and beyond.
Kicking things off in style, the opening night at Miami Marketta promises big vibes, headlined by none other than Dope Lemon, alongside Babe Rainbow, Mt Warning and Makua. Plus, two emerging local artists will get their moment in the spotlight, because what’s a surf fest without showcasing homegrown talent? From there, the festival flows into its cultural core at Mondrian Gold Coast, where surf films, panel talks with world-class athletes and creatives, and live music take over. It’s the perfect blend of storytelling, inspiration and laid-back hangs.
Then comes the main event. On Saturday 30 May, Burleigh Heads transforms into a free, open-to-everyone surf celebration. Expect a unique surf contest with multiple divisions, plenty to watch from the sand, and a buzzing beach bar + stage setup to keep the good times rolling well into the evening. And for those who love their surf with a side of art, don’t miss the Sessions Art Exhibit on May 26, where multiple artists, live music, food and drinks come together to blur the lines between surf culture and creative expression.
