Runaway Bay Tavern unveils new-look Sports Bar.

Runaway Bay Tavern has always been a bit of a Gold Coast classic, but now it’s officially entered its prime time era. The Sports Bar has had the ultimate glow-up, and trust us, she’s looking match-fit. Double the size, sharper than a coach’s spray at half-time, and now home to a whopping 7.2-metre LED screen that’ll make your living room telly look like a Game Boy.
Add in 22 extra TVs, brand-new pool tables and a bar that goes the distance, and you’ve got yourself the ultimate line-up for sports fans who like their footy loud, their beers cold, and their mates close. Basically, if you’re not watching the next AFL or NRL final here, what are you even doing?

The new setup is all about maximising game-day glory. The refreshed furnishings and extra seating mean you can settle in for the long haul (because honestly, no one’s leaving mid-match), and the space just feels like the place to be when your team’s on. Even better, the Beer Garden has joined the party with its own refresh. There’s now a sneaky new entrance right by the carpark, a pool table for those half-time challenges, and an outdoor extension of the bar that screams Friday knock-offs, live music, and BBQs with your crew.

Food-wise, the Tavern still knows how to feed a hungry crowd. You’ll find all the pub staples that deserve MVP status, juicy steaks, cheesy parmis, burgers stacked high, woodfired pizzas, pastas and fresh salads. And for when you’re not up for a full sit-down, the Sports Bar has its own snack menu running weekdays for lunch. Think beef sliders, duck spring rolls and nachos: aka the perfect fuel for trivia debates, punting strategies, or just soaking up that third schooner.

Speaking of trivia, the Tavern’s weekly specials and events are worth bookmarking. Mondays are all about family with Kids Eat Free, Tuesday brings the $25 steak deal (plus free pool all day, a bargain and a half), Wednesday is Parmi Night with trivia thrown in for good measure, and Sundays round things out with a hearty $25 roast. Fridays and Saturdays bring live music from 4pm in the Sports Bar, plus Tradie Club on Fridays from 3pm, complete with meat raffles and BBQ snacks. And of course, live sport runs all weekend, loud and proud.

It’s not just about watching the action though, punters can get amongst it at the brand-new TAB station, with upgraded race day viewing and plenty of chances to test your luck. Between the pool tables, raffles, music and endless screens, boredom doesn’t stand a chance.

This new-look Sports Bar isn’t just a renovation, it’s a full-blown reinvention of what a local can be. Whether you’re here for the footy, a cold one after work, live tunes with mates, or just a killer parmi, it’s all happening at Runaway Bay Tavern.
In other words? Call off the search. Your new local is here.
