Twenty years on from the passing of one of Australia’s most iconic artists, the Gold Coast is set to host a powerful tribute to Pro Hart’s enduring legacy.
Opening Saturday 28th March 2026 in Main Beach, Pro Hart: A Legacy That Lives On marks exactly two decades since the beloved artist’s death, celebrating a life dedicated to capturing the spirit, grit and humour of everyday Australian life.
Best known for his vivid depictions of the Outback, Hart became a household name and one of the country’s most widely collected artists, helping to shape Australia’s visual storytelling on a global stage.
This landmark exhibition brings together more than 50 original works spanning five decades, from the 1970s through to the early 2000s. Expect everything from rare pieces created to illustrate Banjo Paterson’s poetry to a monumental large-scale painting featuring three distinct scenes within a single composition.
Alongside the artworks, visitors can explore previously unseen family photographs, offering an intimate glimpse into the man behind the brush.
In a deeply moving centrepiece, the exhibition will also showcase, for the first time publicly, Hart’s final unfinished painting, left incomplete due to the rapid progression of Motor Neurone Disease. The work will not be for sale, standing instead as a poignant tribute to his unwavering dedication to art until his final days.
More than just an exhibition, this is a celebration of an artist who captured the heart of Australia, and whose legacy continues to live on.
