If golf courses were judged on their cuisine, Boomerang Farm’s new Cook Club would be on par with the best around. Trust us, this place is so good it might just make you forget about your swing and focus on what’s swinging out of the kitchen.

This southeast Asian-inspired gem is the latest creation from Stevie Filipovic, the culinary virtuoso behind Gold Coast favourites like Light Years, Pixie, The Smoking Camel and Moonlight Hibachi Grill & Wine Bar. Stevie has teamed up with Brazilian-born head chef Rodrigo Paraboa, whose impressive resume includes stints at Paper Daisy, Little Truffle and Moustache. With Rodrigo’s signature flair in the kitchen, Cook Club is a hole-in-one (pun intended).

Reimagining what a golf course experience can be, Stevie shared, “Boomerang Farm has been an iconic destination in the local community for decades. The new owners aspire to continue the vision, creating an oasis on the hill – a hideaway from the mundane. Cook Club is the first step in this transformation, guaranteeing the most amazing food on any golf course, ever.”

Let’s talk about the setting. Designed by Studio Co & Co and brought to life by Kew Build, Cook Club is a seamless blend of elegance and natural beauty. Nestled in the heart of Boomerang Farm, just minutes from Mudgeeraba yet worlds away, the space combines the rustic charm of an outdoor bar and restaurant with the lush greens of the nine-hole golf course. Set across 20 hectares of stunning Gold Coast hinterland and surrounded by tropical flora, Cook Club also moonlights as a wedding venue. And trust me, there are even more surprises pencilled in for 2025.

Now onto the food! Rodrigo’s menu is a masterpiece. Small dishes like kingfish ceviche with compressed melon, coconut cream, fresh herbs and finger limes will have you hooked from the first bite. The wok-fried squid with kailan, bean sprouts, black vinegar and chilli is the kind of dish you’ll dream about later. Dumpling lovers, rejoice! The prawn and chive dumplings with nahm jim sauce, crispy chilli and the BBQ pork belly bao with house-pickled vegetables and lime mayo are here to keep the whole crew happy.

For bigger appetites, larger plates prove that golf course food can be gourmet. The wood-fire grilled snapper paired with coconut yellow curry and toasted nuts is pure perfection. And the charcoal-grilled short ribs served with black pepper and tamarind sauce and smoked Asian veggies, will make you forget you ever doubted golf club dining. Don’t forget dessert! The Basque cheesecake with lemongrass caramel is already a fan favourite and is worth every calorie.

After a day on the green, you’ll need to hydrate, and Cook Club’s cheeky cocktails pack a punch. Easy on the Eyes – a refreshing mix of gin, coconut rum, watermelon, and lime – is as smooth as the fairway. Feeling adventurous? Their coloured tongue slushies are here to satisfy your inner child (or your actual kids).

Boomerang Farm’s Cook Club is proof that when it comes to combining great food and golf, they’re onto a winner. So grab your clubs and your appetite, and swing by for a tee-rific feast. You might just find yourself staying for the 19th hole.

More than enough to take a swing at.

Best Golf Courses on the Gold Coast

What better way is there to be outside amongst nature and tranquillity than a friendly game of golf? As one of the world’s most popular sports with an estimated participation of over 60 million people, it’s safe to say a decent percentage of Australian’s also love to get out there and score themselves some birdies — or at least try!

Did you know that the Gold Coast has the greatest number of golf courses per capita in the entire country? Add to this fact we have fantastic weather and incredible scenery, and you might think it’s high time to dust off those clubs or get out there and give it a go.

Here’s a list of seven spectacular Gold Coast golf courses, so you can block out a day and hit the fairway — hopefully not the rough, though.

Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club
Simply stunning – the Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club have a public course with 18 perfectly manicured holes in a sleek country club setting right on the water. If you manage to dodge the many lush pine trees and navigate the abundant lakes, it’s safe to say you’ll enjoy yourself out there on one of the Gold Coast’s finest golf courses.

Links Hope Island
Another course with the most stunning backdrops, The Links can be found on the northern end of the Gold Coast. Set within a 360-ha residential resort community, it’s a world-renowned golf course with characteristics of old-school Scottish courses. Challenging to say the least. We highly recommend getting involved in twilight golf because sunsets over the water here are absolutely next level.
Where: Hope Island Road, Hope Island

Parkwood Golf Club
Do you have varying skills levels in your golf group? Don’t worry. Hop in a golf cart and let this flowing and beautifully put-together course challenge all ability levels and keep even the most advanced players interested. And once you’re done, head to their bar and bistro to add up your scorecards.
Where: 76-122 Napper Road, Parkwood

Emerald Lakes Golf Club
Found in the heart of the Gold Coast, Emerald Lakes is much-loved for it’s state-of-the-art golf course and beautiful restaurant overlooking said state-of-the-art golf course. The 18-hole course boasts pristine lakes and a championship-style setup (which may just make you seem better than you thought you were).

RACV Royal Pines Resort Golf Course (Image via Destination Gold Coast)

RACV Royal Pines Resort Golf Course
RACV Royal Pines Resort is home to 27 holes of utter golfing Nirvana. The course presents a chance to play the same holes which made up the highly prized Australian PGA Championship for seven years between 2012 and 2019. The last man to win here was golfing luminaire Adam Scott, and he’ll no doubt agree this course is the epitome of high risk, high reward style of golf. Immaculately presented and in great condition no matter what time of year it is!
Where: Ross Street, Benowa

Tallai Golf Club
Tallai Country Golf Club borders the majestic hinterland and offers unmatched views threatening to hamper your game! Keep your focus, though, and this delightful little 9-hole course proves to be reasonably challenging but also friendly — a great place for regular no-stress hits and a more relaxed stride for those not in a hurry.
Where: Worongary Rd & The Panorama, Tallai

Top Golf
Whilst it isn’t a golf course so to speak, you can certainly swing a club here, even if golf isn’t your thing Top Golf is the destination to enjoy some fun times with friends whilst having a bit of fun and competition. The perfect place for events and parties with great food and drink options, you’ll never look at golf the same way again!

The gem that’ll stache its way into your heart!

Upper lip service at The Oxley 1823’s latest eats & sips haunt, Moustache.

The Oxley 1823 has gained some serious lip service this week, with another hot spot joining the lineup and making a stache-ing impression. Putting a whole new Euro twist on the café, restaurant, and bar game, it’s hotter than a handlebar mo in the 80s and is aptly called, Moustache. Here to turn your average breaky/brunch/dinner into something follicle-ly fabulous, it’s compact but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in charm. Think intimate, cozy, and effortlessly cool – just the way we like our noshing and watering holes.

The epic menu is inspired by the continent where food is practically a religion (#amen) offering small bites that pack a big punch. Then there’s the bevs and let’s start with the espresso which is strong enough to curl your ‘stache and in our humble opinion, is the perfect brew.

Moving on to the boozier stuff, Moustache has an expertly curated selection of cocktails that come with a healthy splash of European flair. And the vinos? Let’s just say they’ve been handpicked with the kind of finesse that only sommelier with a penchant for Euro panache could muster.

Now let’s talk about the space itself. This intimate little pocket rocket packs a stylish punch, combining comfy vibes with cool factor in equal measure. It’s the kind of place where you can sip, savour, and soak in the ambiance, all while feeling like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem because, well, you have (you’re welcome).

Moustache is all about keeping things down-to-earth, with a strong focus on community and making everyone feel welcome. No need to make a reservation – just stroll on in and the team will whisk you away to a cozy corner, whether that’s at a street-side table perf for people watching, perched on a bar stool, or tucked away in the vibey laneway.

The genius behind Moustache is none other than Brodie Green, the mastermind who brought us the neighbouring crowd fave, Buoy, and started Seadog (voted the best café on the GC, thank you very much). Brodie’s got a knack for creating spaces that feel like home (only way cooler) and with the official opening date right around the corner, you can betcha bottom dollar that it’s un-beard-lievably good.

In the kitchen, Head Chef Rodrigo Paraboa will wield his culinary wand, with a resume that reads like a foodie’s dream: Little Truffle, Paper Daisy, and The Paddock Restaurant at Beechmont Estate. And if you’re wondering what dish has him most excited, that would be Charcoal Grilled Prawns, paired with spreadable salami. It’s a combo which sounds kinda wild, but tastes oh-so-right. Chef’s orders – and we’re not about to argue because when Rodrigo speaks, we listen.

So, get ready to meet the new ‘it’ boy in town, all about keeping things simple and doing them exceptionally well. Moustache is here, and he’s ready to charm his way into our bellies, one perfectly brewed espresso, expertly crafted dish, and carefully curated vino at a time.
