Stuck on ways to spoil Mum this Mother’s Day? It’s a tough gig picking out a gift grand enough to convey eternal gratitude for our familial queen. If springing for a quaint château somewhere in the south of France is out of the question, a très chic Euro-inspired trip for the tastebuds at Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach’s Mother’s Day lunch is the next best thing.

This Sunday 12 May, treat the special lady in your life to a two-course set menu that blows socks and slippers out of the water – in exchange for infinite brownie points and cementing your rightful place as favourite kin. Described as ‘uncomplicated yet exquisite’ – your matriarch will be tickled pink by globally-inspired creations, such as the time-honoured French classic, Bouillabaisse, made with Queensland Snapper and Spiced Bay Lobster.

Held in the warm, family-friendly ambience of Bistro On3, guests will be welcome to unwind in the stylishly designed surrounds, spilling out onto the sun-drenched pool terrace. To kick off the palate pleasing proceedings; a complimentary glass of Chandon for Mum on arrival ought to set the stage for our leading lady.

With the tastebuds sufficiently primed, your party will move on to a lip-smacking seasonal showcase, the Vannella Burrata, handcrafted with strawberry gazpacho, macerated strawberries, vincotto and lime essence. Next comes the ultimate quandary, will it be the Queensland Snapper and Lobster Bouillabaisse, or Miso Mushroom Risotto, made with king brown oyster mushrooms, for the main event? #DecisionsDecisions. Either way, you know anything from the Sofitel’s talented culinary team is going to be a blessing for the tastebuds. Quite frankly, we’re not sure if that makes the decision easier or infinitely more difficult.

If you’re looking for the perfect pozzy to get all Mum’s faves together this year; not only does this flash feed tick the tastebud boxes for the grown ups – but the littles are looked after too. We can safely make this little celebration a whole family affair, with the Kids Buffet available for $25 per child aged 12 and under when dining with an adult.

Add in an extensive selection of sips to toast your guest of honour and this is shaping up to be the perfect way to celebrate. With a full beverage menu of freshly-shaken signature cocktails, mocktails, wines and whisky on offer with which to mark this Mum-entous occasion.

Our favourite part? This seafood-studded feed fit for a queen comes in at a very respectable $60 per person (we did mention the Bay lobster and complimentary Chandon for Mum part… right?!). We don’t know about you guys, but it sounds like that’s Mother’s Day about wrapped up, wouldn’t you say?

Located in the luxurious JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa, high tea at Chapter & Verse is an unmissable resort tradition created by their esteemed culinary team. Using local ingredients, this team take their high tea business seriously – sharing that each homemade morsel is inspired by the echo of birds in the resort’s peaceful and tranquil surrounds. Acquaint yourself with the divinely appointed Library (or luxurious Hamptons room, perhaps) and tuck into a spread of smoked salmon blinis, pint-sized quiches, fruit tarts and tea sandwiches. Bookings for the “regular” high tea (a misnomer if ever we’ve heard one) come in at $50 per person, with dietary and bubbles options also available. La-de-dah indeed.
