Taco ‘bout a fiesta

Street Taco Bar & Taqueria brings bold Mexican bites to Paradise Point.

Street Taco Bar & Taqueria is here to shake things up in Paradise Point! With a pinch of authentic Mexican flavour and a dash of Aussie charm, it’s like a perfectly mixed margarita.

With more than a decade of experience sizzling away in some of the GC’s busiest kitchens like The Collective in Palm Beach and the iconic Bam Bam Bakehouse, Jorge Camargo Erazo knows how to turn up the heat.

But this time, he’s cooking up his own dream. Street Taco Bar & Taqueria was born from Jorge’s love of his South American roots and a trip to California where he tasted the best Mexican food of his life. That trip sparked the idea to bring those bold flavours he loves to our sunny shores.

And where better than Paradise Point? Jorge and his family fell head over heels for the suburb’s beachside vibes, restaurant scene and famously friendly community.

Now, he’s serving up tacos with a side of sunshine, creating a space that feels equal parts fiesta and familia. Step inside and you’ll be greeted by striking cactus displays and colourful Catrinas dancing across the walls. It’s warm, it’s welcoming and it’s got just the right amount of Aussie surf-town soul blended into its Mexican corazón.

At the moment, most of the action happens indoors, but the team has big plans. As the weather warms, the outdoor area will open up with plenty of tables to soak up those golden GC afternoons.

Of course, the real star is the food. Jorge and his crew pride themselves on keeping it fresh and gluten-free without sacrificing one ounce of authenticity.

On the menu, you’ll find a feast of Mexican greatest hits.

To kick it off are the deep-fried Jalapeno Poppers that will melt in your mouth on first bite.

Tuck into top-notch tacos like the Aztec Fire Chicken Taco, featuring marinated grilled orange chicken and topped with diced onion, coriander, lime, and drizzled with a tangy chipotle salsa.

Slow-cooked Beef Quesadillas are sure to hit the spot, with beef marinated in a savoury blend of spices served with onions, fresh coriander and a side of consomme for dipping (and sipping, it’s that delicious).

Nachos will please the whole familia with melted mozzarella, chipotle mayo sauce, fresh guac, bandera salsa, beans, fresh coriander and your choice of protein.

You know you can’t go home without devouring hot churros rolled in cinnamon served with dulce de leche dipping sauce.

To wash it down, there’s all the marg flavours we love, but our choice to truly embrace Paradise Point is the Tropical Fiesta Margarita, a mix of tequila, triple sec, agave, fresh lime juice and fresh mango with a tajin rim.

Fresh food and good vibes Street Taco Bar & Taqueria will have you salsa dancing your way back again and again.

13 reasons locals love Paradise Point

They don't call it Paradise for nothing!

Alvins Wine Bar, Paradise Point (image supplied)
Alvins Wine Bar, Paradise Point (image supplied)

The northern end of the GC is a tight-knit crew, fiercely proud of their patch and ready to prove they’re just as cool as any other part of town. Paradise Point, in particular, is jam-packed with options whether you’re after a fun family day, a caffeine fix, a date night dining experience, or a cheeky liquid lunch (or a regular lunch, but let’s be real, we know which one we’d choose).

Here’s why locals can’t get enough of The Point!

Alvin’s Wine Bar
Bringing a touch of refined elegance to The Point is Alvin’s. Famous for its epic vino selection, cheese plate and delish tapas, it has everything you could ever want from your neighbourhood wine and snack bar. Note to self; order the Burrata with freshly sliced Jamon, house pesto, ripe tomato and Italian EVVO served with Burleigh Baker sourdoughs, topped off with a stunning glass of French Piot Blach. Oh and BYO pooch!

Tommy’s Bar and Grill
Nestled on the waterfront at the northern end of Paradise Point, Tommy’s Bar and Grill was a VERY welcome addition to the northern GC. Surrounded by beautiful boats and breathtaking sunsets, this relaxed venue serves up a delicious array of food alongside live music, trivia, and music bingo nights. With over 40 fine wines, 55 cocktails, and 14 beers on tap, there’s a perfect sip for everyone to enjoy while marinating in the uber vibrant atmosphere.
Where: 4 Marina Promenade, Salacia Waters, Paradise Point

Bridges
Promising the best night in town, the gang at Bridges never disappoints. This funky little pizza and tapas bar is always packed with bums on seats and is the first port of call for locals craving a cocktail and hand-made pizza. You simply can’t pop in for a quiet beverage because if you’re a northerner, you can betcha bottom dollar you’ll run into at least five people you know. Open for lunch and dinner, it’s basically a rite of passage for locals.

Paradise Point Parklands
Undeniably one of the GC’s most breathtaking park areas, it’s an absolute must-see. Overlooking the beautiful Broadwater, pack a picnic, throw a snag on the barbie and let the kids entertain themselves for hours in the large playground areas. There are open grassed spaces perfect for a game of cricket, and the walking trail will get your heart-rate up while you take in the multi-million-dollar views.
Where: The Esplanade, Paradise Point

Burleigh Baker
Craving freshly baked perfection? Paradise Point’s answer to the OG Burleigh Bakery in, you guessed it, Burleigh, is just as drool-worthy as its sibling. Bringing all the buttery, flaky goodness you could dream of, cure those carb cravings with everything from golden croissants to artisanal sourdough. Grab a coffee, snag a pastry (or two), and enjoy a slice of heaven right by the water. It’s an institution amongst the Paradise Point set.
