Miami Block Christmas Party

Miami’s annual Christmas Block Party is fast approaching on December 7 – when all the bars and breweries in Miami’s affectionately known Liquor Lanes gather for one big, festive shindig – and this year, it’s all about the kids.

The collective of venues is raising money for the Pyjama Foundation, supporting children in foster care, with revellers encouraged to bring a present for kids in need, or donate via a special QR code in all the venues on the day.

This year, there’s a particular need for gifts for teenagers, with a request for items such as backpacks, camping accessories and beach towels and bags. Gift cards are also on the ‘wish list’ for older children.

“Everyone loves these Block Parties, and in the past, it’s been about supporting the businesses doing it tough through the light rail construction but this year we thought, we honestly have it pretty good, considering, so let’s help people who are really in need,” Hard FIZZ Brand Ambassador and former Pyjama Foundation volunteer, Amy Bleu says.

“The Pyjama Foundation brings really meaningful connections and support to these young people in our community.

“So anyone coming to the Block Party, leave a present under our tree, or donate via the QR code, and let’s bring some extra joy to these kids in foster care.

“Christmas can be a really challenging time for some people, but these gifts can put a huge smile on the faces of these kids and teens – it helps them to know there are people out there in their corner.”

Joining this year’s Block Party is Hard FIZZ Taproom, Precinct Brewing, Black Hops, Granddad Jack’s, Pretty Handsome and newly opened deli, Mohr.

Previous events have seen as many as 1500 revellers hit the Lemana Lane, Christine Avenue and Hibiscus Haven ‘block’ as the venues threw open their doors for an afternoon of live music, food, drinks and games.

“We’re stoked to be part of the biggest community day of the year,” Granddad Jacks founder David Ridden smiles.

“The Miami Block Party lets all our local venues come together to celebrate Christmas, raising a glass and funds for The Pyjama Foundation.

“Join us for a proper community chin wag and a damn good drink, all while helping give kids the Christmas they should never miss out on.”
