Blues on Broadbeach returns this May.
Blues on Broadbeach returns this May.

Cue the guitars, Blues on Broadbeach is back and turning 25. For Gold Coasters, this one’s basically a rite of passage. The streets fill up, the music rolls on, and the vibes? Immaculate. This year’s got that extra sparkle too, with a quarter-century celebration that’s set to go off. And rounding out a huge week of festivities, the Sunday Ticket brings it home with The Teskey Brothers alongside special guests Emma Donovan and Ash Grunwald. Safe to say, it’s one very good way to close out an already epic few days.
What started back in 2002 as a pretty humble setup – just two stages and around 5,000 people – has grown into one of the country’s biggest music festivals, with more than 600 artists having taken part over the years. And somehow, despite all that growth, it still feels the same in all the right ways. It’s easy, it’s relaxed, and it’s got that signature Gold Coast energy. No stress, no scrambling, just good tunes, good people, and a really good time.

Across four days, Broadbeach turns into one big, open-air celebration, with over 70 artists playing across multiple stages and venues. It’s the kind of lineup that hits the sweet spot. Plenty of familiar names alongside fresh faces you’ll probably end up loving by the end of the weekend. A little bit nostalgic, a little bit new, and all of it very, very good.
Leading things this year is Aussie music icon Ian Moss, headlining Friday night in what feels like a full-circle moment. He played the very first Blues on Broadbeach back in the day, so having him return for the 25th just makes sense. Sharing the Friday spotlight, Grammy-nominated powerhouse Ruthie Foster will light up the Victoria Park Stage with her signature soul-blues sound. Also on the lineup is Mason Rack (another original), plus The Lachy Doley Trio, who’ve become festival regulars over the years and always bring the goods.

Saturday is where things really kick up a notch. Expect a mix of blues, rock, soul, and everything in between, with standout performances from Frank Sultana, Nathan Beretta and Dan Sullivan teaming up as Brothers, and New York’s Daddy Long Legs bringing their high-energy rhythm and blues. You’ve also got Aussie legends The Kevin Borich Express, the incredible Grace Cummings, and Memphis-based experimental artist MonoNeon adding something a little different to the mix.
The festival’s also known for spotlighting up-and-coming talent, and this year’s no exception. Keep an eye out for Jamie Allensworth on Saturday, and Tom Busby on Sunday, who’ll be performing tracks from his debut album Rockhampton Hangover over at The Star.

One of the biggest highlights of the weekend is the Sunday Ticket, with a special ticketed show from The Teskey Brothers, joined by special guests Emma Donovan and Ash Grunwald. If you’ve seen any of them live before, you already know this is going to be something special. And if you haven’t… now’s your chance! Book your tickets here.
Honestly though, one of the best things about Blues on Broadbeach is how easy it all feels. You’re not locked into one spot or rushing between venues. You can wander, discover new acts by accident, and just go with the flow. It’s the kind of festival where you might plan to stay for an hour and somehow end up there all day (and night). No complaints.
To mark the 25-year milestone, there’s also a fun new addition in the mix – the Blues Bus. Part throwback, part practical, it’ll be making its way around the Gold Coast in the lead-up to the festival, doubling as public transport and a bit of moving hype. Very on brand, and honestly, we’re into it.

So, whether you’re a long-time blues fan or just here for the atmosphere, this is your sign to get involved. Clear your schedule, cancel the early mornings, and settle in for a weekend of seriously good music and even better vibes.
