If, like us, you’re currently dreaming of a sun-soaked Mediterranean getaway complete with sun lounges by the sea, fruity cocktails sipped under striped umbrellas and endless summer vibes, you’re in luck.

Surfers Paradise’ newbie, and your absolute new favourite bottomless brunch spot, Hyde Paradiso opened this week and it is all of your European holiday dreams come true, without using up all your annual leave and 24 hours upright in an airless plane cabin.

Found on level two of Peppers Soul Surfers Paradise and overlooking the ocean, Hyde Paradiso is a stunning space, open for lunch and dinner (with bottomless brunch on weekends) and it brings a whole new level of fancy to the Coast.

Natural wood, bright pops of pink, peach and blue and a wall of glass bring the bright, airy space together while rows of greenery drip from the ceiling and arched feature mirrors ensure holiday mode is activated the second you step inside. It’s bright, beautifully sunlit and perfectly pretty, you’ll be snapping up an absolute Insta-storm.

First, let’s chat bottomless brunch. Best enjoyed with as many gal pals as you can muster, Hyde Paradiso’s version runs from 12pm on Saturday’s and Sunday’s offering an exceptional selection of dishes and cocktails for $89 per head. Book in for that one right now.

The Autumn menu, kicking off as of right now, is both seasonal and local (our favourite) featuring mix of Greek, Turkish, Moroccan, Lebanese and Italian cuisines (also our favourite). The dishes are inspired by Executive Chef Joel Bryant’s travels throughout Europe and a casual tapas style of service.

Start your dining experience with a selection of traditional house made dips including hummus, smoked eggplant and Taramosolata.

In terms of share-style-dishes, we highly recommend the Kale and Pecorino Arancini with tapenade, the Roasted Cauliflower with ghee and pomegranate and the BBQ Baby Octopus with fermented garlic and olive oil.

BBQ Baby Octopus

From the Family Style menu, the Whole baby reef fish with fennel, lemon and roasted garlic is an absolute delight, as is the Australia Lamb Rack with chimichurri and saffron rice. So, so good.

To finish, the Pistachio Crème Brulee with biscotti is the perfect dessert and one you won’t soon forget.

At the bar, Hyde Paradiso’s signature tipple is a sweet and refreshing Sgroppino – a twist on the Venetian classic made with sorbet, Prosecco and Limoncello with three mind-blowing flavours to choose from. Keep those coming please.

Whole Baby Reef Fish

A soon to be announced roll-call of local and international DJ’s, will bring the party across Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

The Hyde brand, with venues across the world, is known as a place to escape from conventional hospitality and that it is indeed Gold Coasters.

Pop on your party frocks and prepare yourself for a very good time, Hyde Paradiso is here to shake up the Surfers Paradise dining scene.

Hyde Paradiso

A beachfront, Mediterranean-inspired cocktail venue for Surfers Paradise.

The Surfers Paradise party scene is set to skyrocket in the sophistication stakes with the news that Hyde Paradiso, Australia’s first venue by renowned lifestyle brand Hyde, will swing open its’ doors on April 1st.

Taking up space at Peppers Soul Surfers Paradise, where Seaduction once lived, Hyde Paradiso is said to be the oceanfront playground the sparkly suburb is missing and, if the groups’ previous rap sheet is anything to go by, we’re in for a good time or two.

If you’re not familiar with the Hyde brand, think chic party venues in locations such as Miami, Las Vegas and LA, the likes of which draw hordes of celebrity attendees and now, we lucky Gold Coasters can get in on the action.

The fitout will incorporate a blue, white and peach colour scheme combining traditional Italian materials including terrazos and mosaic with light timbers, coastal whites and earthy neutrals offering a Mediterranean-esque vibe we already love and would like to copy every aspect of.

A standout feature of the space will be the Hyde Paradiso Sgroppino Room, which can be used as a private dining space, including a dedicated bartender serving a range of signature Sgroppinos – an Italian cocktail traditionally made with sorbet, Prosecco and Limoncello – be still our hearts.

The drinks list will make your life infinitely better, curated by Tim Philips- Johansson, a bartender who brings 17 years of experience to Hyde Paradiso and will soon be your new favourite guy. The focus, as is Hyde’s way, will be on fun, flavour-filled tipples perfect for balmy afternoons overlooking the ocean or, a night of dancing and bulk drink sampling with the crew.

The food menu is all about sharing with influences from Europe and the US plus, of course the freshness of coastal-inspired eats. One of our favourite dishes in the world, Spanakopita, will make an appearance as will sumac squid and Heirloom tomato with whipped feta (to name a few select treats). There’ll also be fresh, delicious salads and lots of freshly made dips including another one of our fave dishes, Taramosalata. So good.

Executive Chef Joel Bryant, formerly of local fave Oskars on Burleigh, will head up the Hyde Paradiso team bringing a menu inspired by his travels (and 20 years of experience) with the bold flavours of Greece, Turkey, Italy and Morocco and please hurry up and open now.

So, Gold Coasters, it seems we’re in for a treat.

The relaxed, beachfront space seems certain to evoke nostalgic memories of summers spent on faraway Coasts but right here in our very own backyard.

If stunning Sunday sessions, long lunches and lively social scenes are your thing, mark April 1st in your diaries and prepare yourself for the game-changer that is Hyde Paradiso.

Stay tuned for more information.

10 must dine Surfers Paradise restaurants

It's called 'Paradise' for a reason.

Citrique, JW Marriott Gold Coast (image supplied)
Citrique, JW Marriott Gold Coast (image supplied)

Paradise calling… And by that, we mean Surfers Paradise of course. You might have thought it’s all just bikini and booze but there is so much more just waiting for you to rediscover. Whether you’ve been looking for something laid-back to take the whole fam to or something a little bit fancy for that date night you’ve been putting off, and of course, somewhere to have a cheeky beverage – Surfers has it all. Did we mention it’s beachside?

So we’ve done the leg work and found the 10 must-try spots for you to get the best feed in the heart of the Coast.

Citrique
It’s one of the Gold Coast’s most loved buffets, Citrique takes its reputation seriously. For real, its award-winning seafood buffet is the GOAT for a reason – think fresh prawns, oysters and lobster tails (did someone say boujee) alongside flavours of the world. If breakfast is more your vibe then you’re in luck because they’re dishing up all-you-can eat breakfast and weekend long lunches alongside their signature seafood feast. Calling the beautiful JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa home, you would expect nothing less from this five-star favourite!
Our pick: Anything seafood!

Akoya, The Langham Gold Coast (image supplied)
Akoya, The Langham Gold Coast (image supplied)

The Langham
If feeling a bit fancy is on the menu then The Langham Gold Coast is the destination. Just as luxe as you’d expect the international hotel to be, The Langham can’t stop, won’t stop on delivering the finest food from the East and the West. Meticulously plated, T’ang Court is where precision meets passion with each dish a show of art for the ultimate Cantonese fine-dining affair. Dine beachfront while you treat yourself at Akoya or pop down to Palm Court for a spot of Afternoon Tea.
Our pick: The Langham’s iconic chef’s menu at T’ang Court
Where: 38 Old Burleigh Road, Surfers Paradise

Palette, HOTA (image supplied)
Palette, HOTA (image supplied)

Palette
Palette stormed onto the dining scene just a few short years ago and it’s been a fan favourite ever since. Located within the HOTA Gallery, this dining spot brings art to life with Executive Chef Dayan Hartill-Law using the Gallery’s exhibitions to inspire the decadent degustation menu. The award-winning restaurant has also modestly received Two Chef Hats from AGFG, which is reason enough for us to book a table already. Art you can eat? Yes please.
Our pick: Go all in on the Tasting Menu you absolutely won’t regret it
Where: HOTA, Home of the Arts, 135 Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise

Shiraz Persian Restaurant, Surfers Paradise (image supplied)

Shiraz Persian Restaurant & Bar
Shiraz have been calling their Surfers Paradise corner home for a couple of years now, so I suppose you could say they’ve settled in well. The perfect spot whether you’re looking for a cute date night or somewhere to take the entire family, Shiraz’s incredibly chic interior is big enough (like, 200 seats big) for you to get your authentic Persian fix. Best enjoyed with their namesake’s Shiraz. Ps. If you don’t feel like cooking on a Monday (honestly, who does) then pop in for their BYO day – it would be rude not to.
Our pick: We can’t pick favourites, so go hard on the banquet, we say
Where: Mantra Wings, 2893 Gold Coast Highway, Surfers Paradise

The Island Rooftop (image supplied)
The Island Rooftop (image supplied)

The Island Gold Coast
This Island has long been a landmark of the Gold Coast and we think the reason locals and visitors on the Goldie love this place is in part thanks to an aptly named spot called, Goldies. With a huge lineup of foodie favourites from steak and seafood through to pizzas and parmy’s there’s something to satisfy everyone’s cravings. If you’re after a tipple then the Rooftop is the place to perch up with a Pina Colada in hand while you soak in the iconic Gold Coast skyline, we just love a dining destination that’s as vibrant as the city itself.

Everyone has a story from The Avenue, right? And for good reason. Where else can you go and literally spend all night long there. Pop in for a bite at the restaurant and stay for the vibes at the nightclub or one of the iconic drag shows. Our pick: Kingfish Ceviche
Where: Ocean by Meriton – Level 1, 86 Esplanade, Surfers Paradise

Central Lounge
Something you might not know about us is that we love a lounge bar, so you bet we were fans of Central Lounge the moment those glorious doors opened. Massive cocktail list? Check. Epic easts? Check. R&B Sunday sessions? Check. We’ll go ahead and call that a trifecta. If you’ve been hunting for a stylish spot to sip cocktails and people watch, then this the place for you.

A stacked menu is another real drawcard, and don’t be tempted to assume we’re talking basic bar bites here.

Because the best weekends begin with brunch.

Ahh, the blessed ritual of brunch. Leisurely feasts of eggs every which way you can imagine, sticky, syrup-drenched French toast stacks, and smoked salmon for days – what’s not to love? Plus, it gives us the excuse to sleep in, and our taste buds are rewarded pretty handsomely for the trouble.

Couple it with a little concept known as bottomless cocktails, and life doesn’t get much better. So universally beloved is the sip-happy cousin of this mid-morning rendezvous, we’ve rustled up an entire list of the best places on the GC to get your boozy brunch-fest fix (say that five times fast after two hours of free-flowing mimosas).

From north to south, gather your mates, don your stretchy pants and jump on the brunch bandwagon!
