Tira-miss-who?
Tira-miss-who?

If there’s one dessert guaranteed to make hearts flutter and spoons dive headfirst into bowls, it’s tiramisu. Equal parts coffee kick and creamy cloud, the Coast is positively brewing with spots serving up their own dreamy take on the classic. From traditional nonna-approved recipes to creative twists that espresso themselves a little differently, consider this your official tiramisu treasure map.

Sofia’s classic tiramisu recipe has remained unchanged since day one – and when something tastes this good, why mess with perfection? Expect all the hallmarks of the beloved Italian favourite: pillowy mascarpone, coffee-soaked savoiardi biscuits and a cocoa-dusted finish that practically whispers “ciao bella” with every spoonful. It’s simple, timeless and the kind of dessert that proves sometimes the old-school classics really do take the cake… or in this case, the coffee.

Balboa’s house tiramisu has developed something of a cult following. Widely considered a must-order, this decadent number leans into bold flavour with traditional savoiardi biscuits, sweet marsala and a generous dusting of 70 percent cocoa powder. Rich, complex and unapologetically indulgent, it’s the dessert equivalent of a double-shot espresso – strong, satisfying and guaranteed to wake up the taste buds.

In the mood for a classic with a side of vintage glamour? Bar Evelyn delivers a tiramisu that hits all the right notes. Ladyfingers soaked in coffee are layered with velvety mascarpone and finished with cocoa for that signature bittersweet balance. Sister venue Cadillac Supper Club also keeps the Italian classic close at hand, giving diners yet another reason to save room for dessert.

Tommy’s Italian is another local fave dishing up tiramisu worth lingering over. The venue’s playful energy carries through to its desserts, where that iconic combination of coffee-soaked biscuits and mascarpone layers delivers a sweet finish that feels comforting, familiar and very hard to share. Forks have been known to move quickly when this one hits the table.

Family-run Italian institution Gemellini also keeps the tradition alive with a tiramisu starring house-made coffee-soaked savoiardi biscuits with creamy mascarpone. Like many of the venue’s dishes, it’s a celebration of simple ingredients done well. The result? A dessert that tastes like it wandered straight out of a bustling Roman trattoria and onto a Gold Coast table.

This much-loved local gathering spot leans into Italian hospitality and sea-breeze ease, serving a tiramisu layered with amaretto and coffee mascarpone cream, finished with coffee syrup for an extra hit of espresso goodness. It’s the perfect finale after a plate of house-made pasta, laid-back neighbourhood vibes, and a long, laughter-filled lunch or dinner.

A woodfired pizzeria in the heart of Mudgeeraba that also serves a top-notch tiramisu? Now that’s amore. Locals can’t get enough of this place for obvious reasons (the pizza is chef’s kiss), but the tiramisu slays just as hard. Talk about the ultimate slice and dice combo; hot pizza, cool tiramisu, and a very strong case for loosening that belt a notch.

Over at Origin Café, tiramisu is the quiet achiever that sneaks up and steals the show. Their homemade version leans into everything people love about the classic – soft, coffee-soaked layers, creamy mascarpone and that perfectly balanced cocoa finish. What better way to wrap up pasta night – just add a BYO bottle of vino (or two) and you’re living your best dolce vita life.

Of course, not every tiramisu sticks strictly to tradition – and the Coast is all the better for it. At Hyde Paradiso, the Pistachio Tiramisu puts a nutty spin on the beloved dessert. Creamy mascarpone layers meet espresso-soaked elements and pistachio goodness for a variation that’s rich, fragrant and known to disappear from plates leaving diners tirami-swooning.

At Tarte Tea Garden, tiramisu takes a caffeinated detour in the form of a Tiramisu Coffee that’s as extra as it is excellent. Think all the flavours of the classic Italian dessert reimagined into a cup – rich espresso, creamy sweetness and that signature cocoa-kissed finish. It arrives piled high, decadently dressed and practically demanding a photo before the first sip, but it’s not just a pretty face. This one delivers on flavour in a big way.

For those who like their desserts with a side of pastry perfection, Bam Bam Bakehouse reimagines Tiramisu in Tart form – and it’s every bit as dreamy as it sounds. A crisp chocolate tart shell cradles layers of coffee cremeux, chocolate sponge and airy tiramisu chantilly, all finished with a smooth milk chocolate flourish. It’s a little more structured than your classic scoop-and-serve situation and proves this classic dessert can absolutely dress up for the occasion.
